About us
Healthy Choice Retreats & Tours is a US based organization which provides information and services for the conceptualization, planning, organization, and delivery of retreats and which organizes travel and tour services which meet individual and group recovery interests and needs.
Healthy Choice provides “Custom” touring for individuals and small groups who are looking for personal growth experiences and who may have “special recovery needs or support”. Some of the needs or interests may include dietary.
HC works with and through the International Recovery Tourism Association, UK to identify and locate individuals, organizations and agencies in the US and other countries which offer unique and memorable travel and learning experiences in non-drinking and drug environments. We also like to partner with local organizations and local service providers in destination areas.
Our team
Consists of a core group of experienced professionals and organizations in the US, UK, and other countries who have an awareness and experience in addiction problems and recovery programs.
The Healthy Choice team and its affiliated contracted and consultant personnel have over 40 years’ experience in the planning, organization, conduct and delivery of training, consultant and workshops in a variety of venues in the US, Mexico, Central & Eastern Europe, Egypt and South Asia.

To make travel meaningful and supportive for people in early post-treatment recovery who seek a variety of learning and travel experiences without feeling anxiety or pressure of being alone in risky alcohol or drug-oriented environments. Also, many people are preventive from having enjoyable travel and social experiences because of certain recovery needs and interests and specific dietary needs. In addition, when these ‘early recovery’ people find themselves challenged in tours, social experiences and interactions in heavy ‘holiday’ recreational, or drinking or drugging environments.
For example, persons recovering from a serious alcohol, abusive drugs and/or food addiction situations, could be unduly stressed by tourist environments without a clear understanding of food and drink options and the location of eating establishments which will cater to their food and drink requirements (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, etc). Likewise, a person recovery from alcohol addiction, if traveling alone, would probably feel more comfortable with non-drinking people, or in establishments which did not serve alcohol and do not have a ‘drinking’ atmosphere. In addition, with the increasing number of older people traveling, there is a need to provide more support and assistance in meeting ambulatory and accessibility needs.
Our history

Healthy Choice was organized in 2021 in Southeast Kentucky, USA; and Jalisco, Mexico and was formed by a person who had served as CEO of Support Centers International and other international social welfare and health-oriented projects. These staff and volunteers were instrumental in the design and conduct of the first ‘Addiction Recovery Solutions’ conference and workshops held at the Corbin Public Library in 2018. Since 2021 Healthy Choice has been actively engaged in working with Union College and XXX in developing and implementing the Appalachian Gathering for Recovery Solutions of 2022 and 2023.
